Ring-polyhedral model — theoretical foundation

A geometric approach to modelling the electron shells of atoms and molecules as polyhedra assembled from rings, where each ring corresponds numerically to the number of electrons on the outer shell. The model serves as the computational foundation for PicoFold and other applied directions.

What this is

The ring-polyhedral model is an attempt to give a classical geometric description of the electron shells of atoms and molecules: electron pairs are represented as toroidal rings, and a molecule as a polyhedron assembled from such rings.

What is described in the peer-reviewed publications

  • Molekulyarnaya Meditsina, 2026, 24(2): 47–51 (РИНЦ, ВАК) — application of ring-polyhedral models to the problem of protein secondary structure modelling. Reproduction of the α-helix geometry (~3.6 residues per turn). Note: the journal previously listed RSCI as part of Web of Science. RSCI was removed from WoS by Clarivate in 2022 due to sanctions; we therefore do not claim WoS indexing.
  • Meditsina. Sotsiologiya. Filosofiya, 2025, no. 2: 151–156 — a general formal algorithm for constructing ring-polyhedral models, illustrated with glycine.

The Nanoworld Laboratory materials on narod.ru and subscribe.ru discuss a broader set of hypotheses, ranging from interpretations of megalithic objects to phenomena presented as theoretical conjectures.

Important clarification: in this catalogue these hypotheses are classified as level C (a hypothesis that motivated subsequent experiments) and level D (speculation without a path to verification). The scientific focus of this site is the reproducible geometric core of the model as documented in peer-reviewed publications.

What we are looking for

Independent review of the model’s mathematical apparatus by specialists in quantum chemistry and electron-shell theory.
